The Chinese leather industry in all its forms, from tanning, through chemicals and machinery, to manufacture of retail goods (such as shoes, bags, etc.) remains the market force driving the global industry.
For all the talk about some ‘black hole’, into which the factories and workers who used to populate the likes of Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Shenzhen, had disappeared, China makes, trades and sells – be it raw material or high street retail – vast quantities of leather.
The facts speak for themselves, but the China Leather Industry Association’s Secretary General, Mr. Chaoying Su, presents the information in great detail. (See attached copy of Mr Su’s delivery.)
The All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE), now in its 13th year, and regarded as an international event in terms of exhibitors, is focused on serving the China leather industry, helping international suppliers looking to enter the market in China meet domestic firms. That market today is looking for suppliers who can assist in improving quality, and help meet domestic demand within China.
The opportunities have never been better, for whereas previously China sought to buy better products from overseas in order to sell back to those foreign markets, now an ever greater portion is for the rapidly expanding, and increasingly sophisticated domestic market.
ACLE is co-organised by APLF Ltd, and the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) the only officially recognised leather trade body in China.
