The third World Leather Congress (WLC) was officially launched today at the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) in Shanghai. It will take place in a year from now and will be jointly organized by the Taiwanese International Leather Association (TILA) and the China Leather Industry Association (CLIA). For the next two years the International Council of Tanners (ICT) will be under the presidency of Richard Pai, who is also President of the Taiwan International Leather Association (TILA).
The theme of the Congress will be "The leather revolution" – recognizing the profound changes that are expecting to continue to take place throughout the leather marketing chain over the next 20 years.
"The industry needs to step ahead of consumers’ demands and to adapt its image to today’s expectations," remarked Paul Pearson, current Secretary of the International Council of Tanners (ICT). The objective of the Congress is to attract a varied audience - from tanners to leather and footwear producers, including consumers.
