Enriching the 19th edition of ACLE in Shanghai New Product Launches and Informative Seminars

Mainland China’s definitive leather event, the All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) will celebrate its 19th edition from 31 August – 2 September at the New International Expo Centre, in Pudong, Shanghai.

This leading event covers the complete supply chain of the leather making industry – from raw hides through crust and semi-finished leather, to the final beautiful material in all its forms as finished leather, as well as the chemicals and machinery needed for the process.

This year’s event will feature many group pavilions; new product launches; seminars and key announcements regarding upcoming events of importance to leather professionals from all over the world.

There will be 20 group pavilions at ACLE. These are: Australia, Brazil (2), China, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea (2), Pakistan, Spain, Taiwan (3), Turkey and USA (2).

Countries such as the USA, Italy and Australia have all increased their presence at the fair this year in terms of exhibition space by 7%, 21% and 24% respectively.

Featured Chemical Products

Over the years, leading suppliers of process chemicals for the leather industry have used ACLE as a platform from where to launch new product developed for the leather making process. The 2016 event will be no exception.

The Stahl subsidiary in China, PielColor will present its Magic 2800 – ML series base coat. Magic 2800 which is water based, saves cost and reduces the use of other chemicals and gives leather a natural feel.

The Dutch company Smit & zoon will feature its extensive finishing line including the new UNIVERSAL and UNIVERSAL LC pigments allowing for easier storage and fitting in with the values of Sustainability and Simplicity. For Wet-end applications there will be leathers fatliquored with the new Synthol LA 915, a concentrated lanoline based fatliquor that provides leathers with a warm and waxy handle and reduces water absorption.

German leather chemicals manufacturer Zschimmer & Schwarz will have new applications and products from its ranges of retanning and fatliquoring systems, as well as waterproofing, dyeing and degreasing agents on display. This range will be more extensive thanks to the full integration of products from Italian leather chemicals manufacturer Lamberti-Unichem, whose wet-end auxiliaries business was acquired in 2015.

Swiss chemicals giant TFL achieves high air quality in cars by significantly reducing the emission of leather interiors with CORIPOL® LE, SELLA® Tec AS and RODA® Tec AI. INVADERM® DB and TANNESCO® CPR liquors are new capping, pre- and re-tanning agents to enhance the colour of suded and nubuck.

Another well-known chemical supplier from Germany, BASF, will present state-of-the-art top coat finishing and specialty polymers for the automotive industry, as well as new finishing solutions and “next-generation polymeric waterproofing technology” for the premium leather segment. These products are Relugan Soft AP and Relugan AG. The company has said these chemicals can “significantly enhance” the tear-strength properties of leather.

Special events at ACLE 2016

2016 Leather Forum: Tannery of the Future held one day before ACLE and co-organised by APLF and International Leather Maker. This presentation is a look into the future of tanning where production and turnover will be fast and inventory low in tanneries to serve the changing demands of the fashion industry. Will this entail completely restructuring tannery operations?

Leather Conference: The Status of the Leather Making Industry in China on Day 1 (and -organised by APLF and Hidenet Publications. This is a crucial conference as there are many opinions in the industry about where production, quality and marketing of leather in China is headed. This conference may offer some ideas, concepts and even solutions from the panel experts.

Business matching for furniture manufacturers. Bringing together prospective suppliers and customers has always been one of the fortes of ACLE’s organisation. The upholstery sector is increasingly important due to growing demand and so this session should be active for all concerned.

Seminars and Workshops. Leading research and technology institute SATRA will deliver an informative seminar on “Leathers for footwear & leathergoods: fitness-for-purpose testing”; an interactive workshop “Sustainability, Ecology, CSR and good leather quality go hand-in-hand” will be presented by tannery machine leader Hüni AG Process Controls from Switzerland.

The Organisers – APLF and China Leather Industry Association (CLIA) – welcome the international and Chinese media to the fair where there will be many interesting features, events and products to report.
