ACLE Showcasing Innovation and Global Opportunities for the Leather Industry
The 25th All China Leather Exhibition (ACLE) successfully concluded at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) after three dynamic days, reaffirming its role as China’s leading leather industry event.
Covering more than 80,000 square metres, the fair brought together nearly 1,000 exhibitors and welcomed over 32,000 professional buyers. Together, they created a vibrant industry gathering that highlighted technological innovation, sustainable practices, and forward-looking academic exchanges.

In addition to traditional raw hides, wet blue, crust, finished leather, synthetic materials, and components, this year’s fair placed strong emphasis on innovative fashion technologies, functional materials, and green, low-carbon solutions. These offerings provided new growth directions and opportunities for buyers across footwear, fashion accessories, automotive, furniture, and sportswear.
A rich programme of events added further depth to the exhibition. Over three days, ACLE hosted a comprehensive line-up of academic, business, and interactive activities. The International Tanning Industry Summit and the UITIC International Footwear Congress provided platforms for global dialogue, while New Products & Technologies Launch shed light on the future in leather, machinery, and chemicals.

The exhibition also took place against a complex backdrop for the global leather industry. Economic slowdown, weak consumer confidence, shortages of energy and labour, shrinking orders in footwear and apparel, volatile hide prices, and rising environmental costs continue to weigh on the market. For the sector to remain competitive, it must cut costs, improve efficiency, and accelerate its transition towards greener, smarter, and more sustainable development.
Yet despite these pressures, exhibitors remained optimistic. Letícia Luft, Project Manager at Brazilian Leather, remarked: “There are more visitors this year, and I believe trade between China and Brazil will only grow stronger.” Meng Shengyi, Sales Manager at Foshan Yvonink, explained that the company had shifted its focus to automotive seating, making automotive leather buyers its main clients and driving growth. Dennis King, CEO of the Australian Hide, Skin and Leather Exporters Association, noted: “The absence of US exhibitors has created opportunities for us to expand our client base.”
For buyers, ACLE once again proved its value as a one-stop sourcing platform. Zhang Wen, CMF Designer at Sky Dream RV, commented: “The greatest value of such events is the ability to compare many companies side by side, which saves me significant time.” Beyond sourcing, buyers also benefitted from the exhibition’s forums and technical sessions, which provided early insights into emerging trends and risks shaping the industry’s future.

Amidst global economic headwinds and rising geopolitical uncertainty, ACLE 2025 successfully connected raw materials, technologies, design, and finished products from across the world. The fair promoted collaboration throughout the supply chain, encouraged the adoption of green processes and smart equipment, and reinforced its position as a pivotal hub linking resources, energizing the industry, and shaping its future competitiveness.
Though the exhibition has now closed, China’s leather industry is only beginning a new journey of innovation. ACLE looks forward to welcoming the global leather community back to Shanghai from 1 – 3 September 2026,
